Chemical Manufacturing
REACH compliance, COSHH assessments, and ISO 14001 support for chemical manufacturers navigating some of the most complex regulatory frameworks in existence. Delivered by a consultant with direct, hands-on experience in the sector.
The challenge
Chemical compliance has never been more demanding
Chemical manufacturers and importers face a layered compliance environment: UK REACH and EU REACH substance registrations, COSHH assessments for workplace chemical hazards, CLP classification and labelling obligations, Safety Data Sheet requirements, and environmental management obligations under ISO 14001 or equivalent frameworks.
Post-Brexit, the landscape has become even more complex. UK companies placing chemicals on the EU market need an EU Only Representative. EU businesses supplying the UK face UK REACH obligations. The divergence between the two regimes is growing — and most generalist EHS consultants are not equipped to navigate it.
EHS Protect brings genuine expertise in chemical regulatory compliance, developed through direct work in the sector rather than desk research.
What we bring
Chemical supply chain & EHS
We have managed EHS requirements for importing, handling, and distributing industrial chemicals and minerals across multiple jurisdictions — including the practical realities of REACH substance registration, COSHH compliance, and environmental management in chemical supply chains.
What we bring
EU Only Representative & REACH specialist
We have delivered REACH registration support, EU Only Representative services, SDS authoring, and CLP classification work directly — not as desk research, but as live regulatory work. This specialist expertise is directly applicable to manufacturers and importers navigating the post-Brexit regulatory divide.
Specialist service
REACH compliance & EU Only Representative
REACH — the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals regulation — is one of the most demanding pieces of chemical legislation in the world. Compliance requires systematic substance identification, hazard assessment, registration with the relevant authority (ECHA for EU REACH, HSE for UK REACH), and ongoing obligation management.
EHS Protect provides:
- REACH compliance gap analysis and substance inventory review
- UK REACH and EU REACH registration support
- EU Only Representative (OR) services for non-EU manufacturers
- Safety Data Sheet (SDS) authoring and review
- CLP classification and labelling support
- Downstream user obligation management
- SVHC (Substance of Very High Concern) screening
Key regulation
Post-Brexit: UK REACH vs EU REACH
Since the UK left the EU, REACH has diverged into two separate regimes — UK REACH (administered by the HSE) and EU REACH (administered by ECHA). Companies trading across both markets must comply with both, and the requirements differ in important ways.
For non-EU manufacturers placing chemicals on the EU market, an EU Only Representative (OR) is required under EU REACH Article 8. EHS Protect can act as OR for eligible companies, taking on the registration and compliance obligations on your behalf.
